Here's what this is all about:

Five years ago, at the age of 42, I was diagnosed with Major Clinical Depression after the passing of my father and 2 close friends within a period of few months. I was devastated, feeling lost, hopeless and helpless.

The diagnosis was not a shock to me, what threw me out of base was the fact that I had been depressed since I was a child. So I knew I needed help desperately.

Since I had been depressed my entire life, I needed to know how not to be depressed. It was so ingrained in my psyche that I couldn't fathom the thought of not being depressed.

Then, I understood that I had to "rewrite" my mental software so to speak.

Was it scary?, you bet it was. I didn't know if I would make it to the "finish line" so to speak.

You know, when one is depressed the last thing you think about is, am I depressed?. You are so lost on your sad feelings and emotions that is really hard to ask for depression help, sometimes is takes a family member or a friend to "pull you out" and literally take to the doctor. Other times you can do it yourself but is really, really difficult, I speak from experience.

What do you do when you are told that you have been depressed your entire life?. At first I felt even sadder but with time I came to accept it.

Wow, those are news you don't want to hear, but after I took sometime to think about it, started to make sense. I could not remember the last time I was truly happy actually.

You know what Dr. Phil says: "you can't change what you don't acknowledge". Getting diagnosed was the first step towards a better and fuller life.

Then, all I had to do was to focus on getting better. I know, easier said than done, but doable. A lot of work though.

The past five years have been the most challenging of my life and that's why I am writing about it. It's been a long, hard journey.

Also, too much water flow can push some of the solids that have settled into the bottom of the tank into the leaching field, causing clogs and environmental damage. Times of low water usage can lead to the death of the bacteria in the system.

Keeping water flow even is not always possible. There will be times when you need to use more water, and other times, such as when you are out of town, that you will not be using as much water. The unique design of FLASH systems makes them capable of handling a changing water volume.

Avoiding Nitrogen Contamination

It is not possible to avoid sending these products down the drain completely, but avoid excessive use. Also, avoid using powdered detergents in a septic system.

If you have a FAST septic system, you will not need to be as concerned with nitrogen buildup. In the never-ending fight against fat, quite a few people turn to exercises designed to isolate the abdominal muscles thinking they're spot-reducing belly fat. Well, they can't really be blamed. Isolation exercises are effective in developing and toning-up the arms, chest or any other part of the body. Sadly, this doesn't hold true for getting six-pack abs.

Heavy, long-term cigarette smoking is often said to cause cancer, most prominently lung cancer and cancer of the larynx. And, the evidence is very strong, amounting to near certainty. But, interestingly enough, exactly how it does so is not fully known. It remains an active area of research.

Normal cells that experience damage are able to repair themselves on their own. Sometimes cells are completely removed and then are replaced by the body's lymph system. This process can start to go wrong, however.

Sometimes new cells begin to grow into odd, unnatural shapes and as a result do not carry out their normal tasks properly. When this unnatural growth becomes a big enough problem that the body cannot handle it, it has officially become cancer.

Many of the substances that are found in cigarette smoke have been proven to be carcinogenic.

When the paper in a cigarette burns, it releases tar. Each cigarette tends to contain between 10 and 14 milligrams of tar. This tar collects in the tiny air filled sacs of the lungs, called alveoli, where oxygen is usually transferred into the blood. The presence of tar in the alveoli irritates the cells and eventually leads to their unnatural growth.

Other compounds, called nitrosamines, are present in varying amounts. They're known to be carcinogenic from hundreds of clinical studies on small mammals. NNK is present in a very low concentration: 56.53 nanograms per cigarette. Other nitrosamines, like NNN and NAT, are present in roughly similar amounts.

A few dozen nanograms (one billionth of a gram - 1 g = 0.0353 oz) may sound like a small amount. But sometimes small amounts can have a large effect. Dog's noses, for example, are so sensitive they can detect a few molecules of certain substances. Some systems in humans are equally sensitive to certain chemicals. Add to that the fact that many of the compounds and their effects are cumulative and the case begins to look very strong.

Medical research has found no relation between smoking one or two cigarettes on a daily basis and the development of cancer. It is also true that very few smokers smoke so few cigarettes every day. The truth is that a twenty year smoker who takes in a pack of cigarettes every day has a two to four times higher risk of developing larynx or lung cancer than someone who does not smoke.
